BBC News - UK Gamers Spend £1.5bn on titles

With just two weeks of shopping time left for 2007, gamers have managed to send a record breaking £1.5bn on games and with the last week alone, £87.9bn was spent on games. This is a 25% increase on the total games sold in 2006. According to the article games account for almost 80% of all software sales world wide.

It had to happen at some point, with their approach to saving the world, Greenpeace is now targeting the gaming industry. Besides games turning the players into green-footprint emitters, Greenpeace now wants the consoles to become more environmentally friendly by phasing out the introduction of the most dangerous chemicals in its machines.
