BBC News - UK Gamers Spend £1.5bn on titles

With just two weeks of shopping time left for 2007, gamers have managed to send a record breaking £1.5bn on games and with the last week alone, £87.9bn was spent on games. This is a 25% increase on the total games sold in 2006. According to the article games account for almost 80% of all software sales world wide.

Besides games turning the players into green-footprint emitters, Greenpeace now wants the consoles to become more environmentally friendly by phasing out the introduction of the most dangerous chemicals in its machines.
